How long does a clinical psychology treatment take?

The duration if variable as it depends of the difficulties that presents the individual and the progress of the case. Every case is unique although once the evaluation is done and the treatment plan is presented, the clinical psychologist will have more information to estimate the possible duration of the psychological treatment. Thus, we can expect to have around 16-20 sessions for the treatment of a moderate depressive episode (cognitive-behavioral) and the clinician will evaluate if the client will benefit of more or less sessions, depending on how the case progresses. Sometimes depending on the severity of the symptoms it can be appropriate to offer an intensive treatment of two or three sessions a week.
