Stress Management

Endless tasks, impossible schedules, demands, and rushes that weigh us down and leave us breathless. These demands put us in a state of stress that, if sustained over time, can lead to psychological and physical exhaustion and damage our bodies. Given the demanding lives we lead, we must be trained in stress management strategies and techniques that help us regulate this stress to reduce its harmful effects and regain peace of mind.

We will learn a variety of techniques throughout the sessions to adapt to all types of situations and individual characteristics. We will cover the most advanced relaxation and stress management techniques, with the greatest empirical support for their effectiveness. Practice will be introduced through theoretical content and written material that the individual can then take home for reference and permanent access to the details of the techniques. Guided practice of the different techniques will then be provided, addressing the most common difficulties, carefully guiding the individual in their correct implementation. These techniques include:

  • Jacobson’s progressive relaxation
  • Breathing techniques
  • Muscle relaxation
  • Mindfulness
  • Task planning
